Every morning, one of Zippy’s top notch burger technicians readies the grinder and sharpens up the 14″ blade. The big piece of chuck is trimmed and sent through the grinder. No extra fat or nasty stuff is added to Zippy’s ground beef, unlike other burger joints that use pre-made patties or pre-ground beef. Due to our grinding process, each burger is a little different. On an average week, we grind 1,000 pounds of beef.
Our secret sauce has been compared to 1000 Island dressing numerous times. Zippy’s secret sauce may have a similar color and texture. However, it lacks the finely diced green pepper and onion, as well as a few more ingredients common to 1000 island dressing. All we can tell you is that, yes, it is mayo based.
Yes, indeed, we’re more than happy to take your plastic as long as it’s accompanied by your photo id. Like many other small businesses, we do charge a small fee for transactions under $5. With the fees we pay for accepting plastic, we actually lose money on transactions under $5. We hope you understand.
We sincerely apologize for those times you call and can’t get through. There are times throughout the day when the restaurant is full and there are still a dozen hungry Zippy’s fans waiting for their burgers. As a matter of prioritizing, we cook for the guests in the restaurant first.
If you’re a person that tips your bartender for drawing a pint of beer or your barista for pulling a shot of espresso, then why not throw a few extra bucks the the hard working Zippy’s crew? Sure you have to come up to the counter to order — but with the call of your name and the raise of your hand, the food comes zipping out of the kitchen right to your table.
We cook all of our food to order. We don’t cook up a bunch of burgers and hot hold ‘em. We don’t even have a microwave in our kitchen.
Them’s the rules and we’re sticking by them.
With the exception of Diet Coke, we only sell cane sugar sodas in the glass bottle. We feel that our selection of vintage and retro sodas bring our customers back to the days when having a bottle of soda was a treat.
